LION FACTS

Do they bite?
Yes they can as they are still wild animals and wild animals can be unpredictable.

Do they scratch?
Yes they can do, their claws are very sharp but we are here to stop them from doing that.

How much do they eat?
A lion will feed itself until it cannot walk but his actual requirement is 5 - 7 kg per day.

What is their favorite food?
Zebra, wildebeeste and buffalo but will eat anything they will even steal from other predators.

Can they jump?
Yes!

Do they always have spots?
They do fade but they always have a couple of spots on their bellies and on the inner legs.

What are the black marks behind their ears?
They are identification marks, for signaling to each other.

When do they hunt?
When they are hungry.

Would they attack an elephant or giraffe?
Yes only if it was sick, wounded or young.

Why do they always want to attack children?
Its natural, the children are young and they know them as naturally easy prey they also will attack old frail people for the same reason.

How long does a lion live?
Up to 22 years in captivity and about 17 years in the wild.

How many lions are in a pride?
Average is about 6-15 lions per pride but this is also determined from the amount of food available; however prides have been known to reach as much as 25.


When do they start eating meat?

Cubs will start chewing on meat at about 6 - 8 weeks old, when their teeth are starting to develop.

How long can they go without eating or drinking?
They can go without food for a maximum of 14 days and without water for 4 days but will eat wild cucumbers and wild melons to extract the moisture content.

How big is their territory?
About 20 square kilometers on average.

Are their teeth and claws removed before we walk with them?
No!

Are they drugged?
Certainly not !!

Why do you walk with lions?
For exercise and for them to have more freedom it is also their initial training to get our lions used to people so that we can continue to use them in the movie and advertising world as well as supplying you; the client the opportunity of this experience.

What will happen to these lions when they are too big to walk with?
They will be moved into a drive through enclosure.

How long can you walk with these lions?
It all depends on the temperament of each individual lion but it’s actually up to the people as they are the ones that feel intimidated by such a powerful animal not the animal he has only grown!

Do you ever hunt any lions?
Certainly not we are here to conserve and protect these species we do not hunt.
